
Call for satellite projects 3:2023
Blue Mat's sixth call for satellite projects for the partners of center formation. The projects will stimulate needs-based research and collaboration between academic partners (universities and institutes) and external partners (companies and authorities) within Blue Mat's research areas.

Areas of application and content
Applications are welcome in the following three areas
- Research and collaborative projects applying for full or partial funding.
- Funding for time spent working on a major application, such as an EU application (seed money).
- Travel grants to attend a conference or spend a short time at another university or company.
For area 1, the application must include
- background describing the problem and the existing knowledge gap
- the project's objectives and link to the Blue Food's objectives and vision
- method
- expected results
- budget, including possible co-financing
- overall timetable
For area 2, seed money, describe which call you are targeting and the main features of the planned research.
Area 3, travel grants, describe the purpose of the trip and the skills enhancement it can bring to the traveler and to Blue Food.
The application should be a maximum of 4,000 characters including spaces.
Requirements for applicants
For area 1, the team behind the applications should consist of at least one academic and one external Blue Food partner - but preferably more. The application is submitted by the academic party. Other organizations may participate in the projects but without receiving funding from the satellite call.
Importantly, results must be openly shared with the research community as well as other organizations; confidential contract research is not funded.
Parties awarded funding are expected to identify Blue Food as the funder in communications about the project.
For areas 2 and 3, applicants must be part of Blue Food.
Amount
The maximum amount to apply for areas 1 and 2 is SEK 150,000.
The maximum amount for travel grants is SEK 25,000. The number of travel grants is limited to one per calendar year and recipient.
The total amount of the call is SEK 400,000.
Preparation and decisions
Applications are reviewed by the Blue Food Executive Group in consultation with experts from the Management Team or external experts. Decisions are taken by the Blue Food Management Team.

Blue Food's sixth call for applications for satellite projects for the center's organizations is open. The projects should stimulate question-driven research in collaboration between the academic (universities and institutes) and external (companies and agencies) organizations within Blue Food's research areas.

Application areas
We welcome applications in three areas:
- Research and collaborative projects applying for full or partial funding.
- Funding for time to work with major applications, e.g. for EU funding (i.e. seed money).
- Travel grants for attending a conference or to spend a shorter period at other universities or companies.
For area 1, the application must contain:
- background with a description of the problem and the existing knowledge gaps
- the project goal and how it connects to Blue Food's goals and vision
- method
- expected results
- budget including possible co-funding
- overarching time plan.
For area 2, seed money, the application must contain which call you are focusing on and the main elements of the planned research.
For area 3, travel grants, the application must contain the aim of the travel and the expected knowledge building it will mean for the traveller and Blue Food per se.
The application can be no longer than 4,000 characters including spaces.
Requirements
The team behind applications in area 1 must be composed of at least one academic and one external organization in Blue Food - but larger collaborations are welcome. The application should be submitted by the academic organization. Organizations not part of Blue Food can participate in the project but may not receive funding from the call.
It is important that results generated by the project can be shared openly within the Blue Food centre as well as within the research community and with other organizations; confidential contract research is not funded in this call.
Organizations that receive grants are expected to mention Blue Food in their communication about the project.
Areas 2 and 3 are open for applications from people in Blue Food.
Amounts
The maximum grant for areas 1 and 2 is 150,000 Swedish kronor.
The maximum travel grant, area 3, is 25,000 Swedish kronor. The travel grants are limited to one per calendar year and applicant.
The total funds available in the call is 400,000 Swedish kronor.
Assessment and decision
The applications are assessed by Blue Food's executive group in consultation with experts from the management team or external experts. Decisions are made by Blue Food's management team.
