Funding sought from Formas for another four years
The Blue Food Center was made possible thanks to funding from the Swedish Research Council Formas, as one of four approved applications. We have now applied for funding from Formas in a new call for the four existing centers. After the summer, Formas will organize a hearing and later in the autumn we hope for a decision that will enable another four years of research and work to promote seafood.
During the first four years of Blue Food, eight doctoral students have started their projects and one doctoral student has defended his thesis. One postdoc has completed his project and one is in the middle of her. Eight satellite projects have been granted so far, young researchers have received grants to attend conferences and courses, and at least fifteen scientific articles have been published. In addition, Blue Food has participated in a large number of fairs, seminars, festivals and other events to spread knowledge about seafood.
Now, the Blue Food consortium - Chalmers, University of Gothenburg, Innovatum Science Park, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, KTH, Rise, SLU and Uppsala University - as well as Axfoundation, Matfiskodlarna and Orkla have submitted an application for continued funding. If granted, Blue Food will continue until the end of 2028.
