A cookie is a small text file stored on your computer. There are different types of cookies. A permanent cookie remains on the visitor's computer for a fixed period of time. A session cookie is stored temporarily in the computer's memory while a visitor is on a website. Session cookies disappear when you close your browser.

You can set your browser to automatically refuse to store cookies or to inform you every time a website wants to store a cookie. You can also go in and delete all previously set cookies. The settings you can make depend on the browser you use, see the browser's help pages for more information.
