June 21-23: Conference on Swedish algae cultivation - opportunities and obstacles

May 19, 2022 | Events | News

From 21 to 23 June, the University of Gothenburg is organizing a conference at Tjärnö Marine Laboratory on Swedish algae farming and the development of the Swedish algae industry. During the conference you can meet Ingrid Undeland and Fredrik Gröndahl, acquaintances from Blue Food.

This is how the conference is presented on the University of Gothenburg website.

"Interest in algae is growing at record speed. Today there are a few growers in Sweden, but what is needed for the industry to grow and develop? What techniques are available for cultivating algae and seaweed in Swedish waters? What are the challenges? And how do we use the biomass? Welcome to a conference with interesting presentations and exciting discussions!"

  • Ingrid Undeland's presentation is entitled "Algae - the superfood of the sea".
  • Fredrik Gröndahl will speak under the title "Conflicts of interest in upscaling - a situation analysis".

Participants will also hear presentations from other prominent researchers and representatives from authorities, companies and organizations from Sweden, Norway and Denmark.
