New article: "Environmental and biodiversity performance of a novel single cell protein for rainbow trout feed"
A new article with Blue Food PhD student Kristina Bergman as lead author finds that fish feed produced with Paecilomyces variotii, a single-cell protein that can be grown on side streams from the forestry industry, has a lower overall environmental impact than soy protein. The authors also concluded that fish growth is not affected by a diet containing the new feed ingredient and that the impact of fishing needs to be taken into account in order not to underestimate the impact of diets and feeds on biodiversity.
