Blue Food open webinars: "Sustainable consumption of fish from the Baltic Sea – value, preparedness, and the future of blue food"

What do we actually mean by sustainable consumption of fish from the Baltic Sea? And how do our choices affect coastal communities, food security, and Sweden's economy?

On March 18, Cecilia Solér, a researcher at the University of Gothenburg, will present the results of the research project "Implementation of sustainable business models that depend on and maintain local/regional fish stocks in the Baltic Sea," funded by BalticWaters. Based on interviews with some 30 fishermen along the Baltic Sea coast and analyses of the value chain, the study shows how different ways of using the same kilo of fish create radically different socio-economic value. When fish is processed into food in Sweden, not only does the added value increase, but employment, regional development, and national food security are also strengthened.
