Researchers from Blå Mat shared their knowledge during Västerhavsveckan
During the recent Västerhavsveckan, researchers from Blå mat have been sharing information about seafood, research, and the establishment of the center.
Kristina Snuttan Sundell, Blå mat’s coordinator for knowledge enhancement and a professor at the University of Gothenburg, gave a presentation titled “The Ocean’s Pantry—Blue Food for a Green Future” at Oscars in Lysekil. The audience learned how we can eat more sustainably produced food from the ocean and lakes, particularly by utilizing more species and parts of the fish, as well as circular production systems.
Ingrid Undeland, Blå mat’s research coordinator and a professor at Chalmers, gave a presentation titled “Silicon Valley—A Hub for the Future of Seafood” in Ellös on Orust. Ingrid Undeland’s research group is working on the next generation of seafood based on, among other things, seaweed, microalgae, small pelagic fish species, fish byproducts, and mussels. Martin Kuhlin from the Blå mat partner Sweden Pelagic also participated in the presentation. Ingrid Undeland has long collaborated with Sweden Pelagic to ensure that more marine raw materials are used for food rather than feed.
Fredrik Gröndahl, a member of Blå mat centre director and a researcher at KTH, participated in an open house at the Kristineberg Marine Research Station and spoke with a large number of visitors about Blå mat and algae.
