Seafood Day was celebrated across the country
On Monday, October 19, the Swedish theme day “Seafood Day” was celebrated for the second time. Compared to last year’s inaugural event, the number of activities increased, as did their distribution across different parts of Sweden.
The Swedish Seafood Council's website features a wide range of activities. Among them:
- An open house was held at Feskekörka in Gothenburg, where Blue Food, Swemarc, Rise, and Aquafood—among others—offered tastings prepared by chef Markus Junkala, taught visitors how to peel shrimp like a pro, had them guess fish species, and discussed research. Feskekörka also served a special lunch menu throughout the day.
- Special seafood meals for schoolchildren and residents of senior care facilities in several municipalities—Sotenäs, Falkenberg, and Strömstad.
- A number of companies, organizations, businesses, and universities held open houses with activities for curious visitors, who had the opportunity to learn more about research, seafood production, and the blue foods of the future.
- Seafood Day was also highlighted through promotional materials at fish counters, on social media, online, and in webinars.
