
Six satellite projects awarded funding in Blue Food's second call for proposals
Six applications were submitted to the Blue Food's second call for satellite projects, and after supplementary information, the Blue Food's management team decided to approve all of them.
In the second satellite call of Blue Food, two applications for funding for research projects and four applications for travel grants to attend conferences are approved.
A total of SEK 366 846 is granted.
Research project
Two research projects are awarded in the call.
"Oysters, beyond raw: diversifying seafood consumption in Sweden"
Academic parties: IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute and Rise
Co-applicants: Orust Shellfish
The project aims to evaluate whether different ways of preparing oysters can reduce resistance to eating them. The results will provide new knowledge about Swedish consumers' perception of oysters that can help to increase acceptance and make oysters more frequently eaten in Sweden. The project is mainly linked to Blå Mat's research area 4: Consumer attitudes and sensory perception.
Blue Food is funding the project with SEK 150 000.

"Heavy metals in feed and sludge from fish farming - sources and impact on circular systems"

Co-applicant: Smögenlax Aqua AB
The project will provide knowledge about heavy metals and unwanted minerals in fish manure and how closed containment fish farms can become part of a circular food supply, including key figures for economic and environmental sustainability.
Blue Food is funding the project with SEK 150 000.
The planned project duration is August 2022 to April 2023.

Four applications for travel grants are approved, with the applicants sharing a total of SEK 66 846.

- Elena Costa, Blue Food PhD student at the University of Gothenburg and Rise: SEK 12,950 for travel, accommodation and participation fee for the conference "Eurosense 2022: A Sense of Earth", in Turku, Finland, September 13-16, 2022.
- Mar Vall-Llosera, Blue Food PhD student at Chalmers: SEK 14,000 for travel, accommodation, poster and participation fee at the "West Europe Seafood and Technology Associationconference" in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, October 17-21, 2022.
