In the Blue Food's seventh call for satellite projects, two applications were granted for research projects and two for travel grants.
Research project
"Oversized pacific oysters - a new seafood resource in Swedish food systems"
Academic partners: IVL, University of Gothenburg
Co-applicant: Musselfeed
The project aims to better integrate Pacific oysters into Swedish food systems by developing methods for separating meat and shell, producing and evaluating oyster meal and evaluating regulatory conditions. The project is mainly linked to Blue Food's research area 2. Process technologies and product development and the overall research area 3. Laws and regulations.
Blue Food is funding the project with SEK 149 980.
"Applying a risk analysis framework to new contexts in Swedish aquaculture production"

Co-applicants: Ostrea Aquaculture AB, Nordic seafarm, Matfiskodlarna
The project aims to apply and evaluate a revised risk analysis for aquaculture. The objectives are to increase capacity for risk management within the industry. The work includes a broader Swedish context and focuses on both threats and opportunities. The project is mainly linked to the overall research area 4. Risk analysis.
Blue Food is funding the project with SEK 150 000.
Travel grants
John Axelsson, Blue Food doctoral student at Chalmers: SEK 25,000 for a research stay at Wageningen University and TNO, the Netherlands, to deepen his expertise in 3D printing of food.
Mar Vall-Llosera Juanola, Blue Food doctoral student at Chalmers: 8,000 SEK to participate in the "Workshop on upcycling in the food system" at Aalborg University in Nyborg, Denmark, April 17-18, 2024.
